The main idea of the project is to create a place for meetings, work and development, open to the city and the park. The designed building complex consists of two parts – stages. Each stage has its most important place – the “heart”. In the case of the Cultural Centre, it is the foyer, while for the City Office – the service room.
The location of these places in the space of passages between the park and the city ensures the actual “stitching” of the urban fabric with green areas through functions that become attractors, drawing potential users. The spatial composition composed of such defined elements “reacts” to the surroundings, creating semi-open entrance squares, internal courtyards and passages between the city and the park in urbanly justified places. The new building complex was designed as a simple composition of elementary forms, referring in its spatial structure to the frontage layout of facades on the historic streets of Piaseczno. The main entrances to the CK, as well as the City Office, were accentuated with two-story porticos based on massive pillars, emphasizing their function. They invite passers-by and users to the main spaces – the hearts of each stage. The large-scale glazing used ensures an uninterrupted visual relationship with the park and greenery from the city side, thus encouraging the local community to enter and explore the urban interior of the complex, integrating it with the residents.
The designed complex uses mostly pragmatic and timeless architectural elements, creating a classic rhythm of vertical divisions and openings, similar to the formal language of the facades of the tenement houses in the vicinity. The building elevations take into account the divisions of the plots. The proposed aesthetics of the building complex partially reveals the function, but thanks to the introduced tectonics of the blocks it is not overwhelming and monumental. The architecture of the complex includes existing and created spaces to expand the scenery of events or parties organized by the Cultural Center and creates a framework for celebrating many different celebrations – from weddings through cultural meetings to everyday meetings in an attractive space with the possibility of going out into the open air.
